Fixed Term position – 36 months

Salary £28,331 - £33,797 per annum – starting salary will depend on experience.


The Ideal Candidate:

As a highly motivated self-starter with excellent communication and organisational skills, you will enjoy the challenge of working at the interface of scientific research and industrial challenges. You will be technically talented, with a willingness to embrace team working.  You will be flexible and motivated to deliver to customer requirements.  You will have an eye for detail and ability to work to tight deadlines.

The role:

You will provide the technical lead as part of a scientific team, carrying out image-based analysis and modelling (2D and 3D) to enable the assessment and quantification of marine growth on offshore structures.  Using existing software, you will develop 3D photogrammetry as a method of quantifying marine growth and assist in the development of automated faunal identification from 2D and 3D imagery. You will liaise with industry and regulators to imbed the innovations into the offshore sector.

Other duties will include writing reports and documents and providing technical input to tenders and scientific publications.  There may also be opportunities for field survey work, including offshore working.

You will have support from SAMS Science, Enterprise and ICT areas to assist you in meeting the requirements of the role.
