MASTS NEHM Workshop on Experimental Modelling - register interest

The main aims of this workshop will be to:

  1. Increase awareness of the range of laboratory facilities and equipment available at MASTS and partner institutes for experimental hydrodynamics and environmental fluid mechanics research;
  2. Help identify best practice and state-of-the-art within experimental flow measurements and techniques;
  3. Promote discussions on potential routes to wider cross-institute collaborations (e.g. facility and equipment sharing, development of joint UKRI equipment grant proposal);
  4. Provide a basis for future collaborative activities (e.g. PhD summer school on Experimental Hydrodynamics and Environmental Fluid Mechanics).

We can confirm that this workshop will run online over the afternoons of 21-22 June 2021, as detailed below:

Monday 21 June 2021 (2-4pm) – Institutional discussions on experimental facilities and equipment (e.g. promoting cross-institute collaborations, future equipment requirements, outline proposal for equipment sharing).

Tuesday 22 June 2021 (1-4pm) – Scientific research presentations showcasing current research activities. Early career researchers are particularly encouraged to attend and present their current or recent experimental work.

The exact timing and duration of the two afternoon meetings will be subject to the levels of interest expressed in both workshop events.

Although the first day is aimed specifically at experimental facility managers, both events will be open to all and attendance is free of charge.

Please register your interest by filling in the workshop registration form here by 23 April 2021. If you are a facility manager/representative and are willing to give a brief overview of your facility on the first day, please indicate this on the form. If you are a researcher (of any level) and would like to give a research presentation during the second day, please include a title and short abstract (250 words max.) with your registration.

A full programme for the workshop events will be released closer to the date, along with details on presentation preparation and format.
