Consultation opens on the UK Marine Strategy marine monitoring programmes

Consultation on the updated UK Marine Strategy Part Two

Defra, the Northern Ireland Executive, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Government are seeking views on proposed updates to the marine monitoring programmes for the state of the UK’s seas.

The consultation document sets out the monitoring programmes we propose to use to gather data to assess the indicators we use to measure progress towards Good Environmental Status across biodiversity, productivity, and pressures in UK seas. It notes the progress we have made since Part Two was originally published in 2014 and identifies the gaps and opportunities we aim to address over the next 6 year cycle.

The consultation and details of how to respond can be found here: https://consult.defra.gov.uk/marine/updated-uk-marine-strategy-part-two-marine-monitorhttps://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/marine-strategy-part-two-monitoring-programmes

The consultation closes on 17 November 2020.
