A.G. HUNTSMAN AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE IN THE MARINE SCIENCES 2018 CALL FOR NOMINATIONS
The A.G. Huntsman Medal is an international award presented annually by the Royal Society of Canada to recognize excellence of research and outstanding contributions to marine sciences. It is awarded to those men and women, of any nationality, who have had and still have a significant influence on the course of marine scientific thought according to the following three criteria:
1. for unequalled excellence in their respective fields;
2. for the influence of their work on the course of scientific thought in their respective fields;
3. for their continuing and current activities at the forefront of their respective fields.
LETTER OF INTENT
To nominate a candidate, please submit a one page summary briefly highlighting the contributions of the candidate to all of the foregoing three criteria. Please also include a short curriculum vitæ. Submissions are welcome for candidates in physical, chemical, geological, biological and interdisciplinary marine sciences. Self-nominating letters-of-intent are also welcome. The deadline for receipt of letters-of-intent is March 31, 2018, sent to the Chair of the Selection Committee, Dr. Susan Allen (firstname.lastname@example.org).
The Selection Committee will invite the submission of complete dossiers from a short list of the letters-of-intent. The dossier will consist of a nomination form, a full curriculum vitæ including publication list, and letters of support from experts in the field. Self-nominations will not be considered at this stage. Invitations to submit a full dossier will be sent by April 30, 2018. The deadline for receipt of nomination dossiers is May 31, 2018, sent to the Chair of the Selection Committee, Dr. Susan Allen (email@example.com). Letters-of-intent that are not invited to proceed towards full nomination will not be notified.
